Learn to drive in West Lothian

Q: What is a provisional license?
A: Before taking driving lessons on Britain’s roads, you must first have applied for and obtained a provisional driving license. You can find out more details and apply on the Government website.

Q: When can I start to learn to drive?
A: You can have your first driving lesson on your 17th birthday.

Q: Can I learn to drive with my mum or dad?
A: Lots of people have their first driving lesson with their mum or dad and most generally find it to be a hair-raising experience! While you can drive with any adult over the age of 21 who has held their full UK driving license for over three years, it is recommend by the DSA that new learners choose a qualified instructor for their lessons.

Q: Why choose a qualified instructor?
A: Driving lessons are designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills required to become a safe and confident driver. Choosing a qualified instructor ensures that pupils cover all areas of practical driving and driving theory including manoeuvres, independent driving and the all important ‘show me, tell me’ questions which will appear on the practical driving test. Qualified instructors are also familiar with test routes and test methods and will be able to better prepare their pupils for their test dates.
